She doesn't just follow a progressive agenda, she sets it.

Gun violence prevention
Even before she was elected, Denyse was instrumental in passing meaningful gun safety legislation in Illinois. She founded the gun violence prevention nonprofit, People for a Safer Society, after the Sandy Hook School shooting. She helped pass landmark legislation that has made people in Illinois safer, including Gun Dealer Certification and the Firearms Restraining Order law.

As a new state representative in her first year, Denyse passed HB1092 to strengthen Illinois' Firearms Restraining Order (FRO) law. The FRO was designed to prevent the next mass shooting, hate crime, or gun homicide or suicide. The new law includes yearly training on how to use the FRO for law enforcement and an education campaign for the public. It was the also the first step in Illinois to address ghost guns.
